THE BARNS
The Barns at Nappanee, home to Amish Acres, with new owners, looks forward to continuing the legacy of Amish Acres and adding new and exciting events and ideas to the farm.
When you escape to The Barns at Nappanee in Nappanee, Indiana, you will share the century-old craftsmanship and agriculture legacy. Almost a century ago, time stopped and was preserved by the Amish, who follow their way of life nearly as old as today’s increasingly fast-paced trends. The legacy of the family that lived here for almost two centuries is passed down through a visit to the farmhouse and homestead long gone.
BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND MORE
A shop like Linton’s Enchanted Gardens could be a perennial indoor amusement park. The home and garden center exemplifies active recreation, with 9 acres of themed gardens and imaginative attractions like the 15 ft x 12 ft silver spaceship that draws customers to the company’s UFOs, known as “Unique Feeling Growing Objects.”
Linton’s guests are given detailed maps upon arrival at the facility, which guide them around each part of the facility. Some go straight to the Lighthouse Gardens, where a crew is showcasing the wide variety of ornamental grasses on display next to the Main Fountain with a flashing light.
Other themed gardens include Babe’s Pie House, the Dutch Windmill, the Fairy House, a Grand Erie Train Depot, and the Corn Palace. Families are always welcome at Linton’s Enchanted Gardens. They created the “Kids Korner” that features a tree house and a fort, both located on a 200-year-old hollowed-out tree trunk.
Along with the retail staff, the trio oversees everything at the main business site and their 40-acre herb operation located miles farther out. The herb garden division supplies Linton’s Enchanted Gardens, national landscapers, and other garden centers.
TRAINS, TRAINS, AND …WELL …TRAINS
The Historic Train Depot, the world’s first railroad terminal, was moved back to its original place in 2009 and was later restored to how it was in 2011. A significant open space in the held Office Depot and baggage room was created and, alongside railroad memorabilia, railroad tools, and several interpretive exhibits, provided visitors with a visualized historic city almost a century before. A bird’s eye map of Bremen in 1877 was also on display.
The outside track cover is around a 155-foot length and has a freight station wagon sitting in paint and ready to be loaded. It starts operating on the first Sunday of the month from May to November 2. The square is open for tours and events inside the schedule. The Historic Train Depot is currently closed due to a move in its location. Check the website for its grand reopening.

Bremen is a small, family-friendly rural community in Northern Indiana. The area is surrounded by farm land. There is a neighboring Amish community and some of their school age children drive their horses and buggies to school. Hitching posts and lean-to shelters for horses are a common site around town.
Bremen is located at 41°26′50″N 86°08′58″W. It is at an elevation of 854 feet. Bremen has a total area of 2.72 square miles (7.04 km2), all land.
Bremen is a city located in Marshall County Indiana. With a 2020 population of 4,718, it is the 134th largest city in Indiana and the 6855th largest city in the United States. Bremen is currently growing at a rate of 0.23% annually and its population has increased by 0.47% since the most recent census, which recorded a population of 4,696 in 2020. Bremen spans an area over 3 miles, and it’s population density is 1,665 people per square mile.
